This is a review of New Wash by Hairstory and not sponsored or else I’d be posting more selfies.

I’m a very busy woman.  I have 4 kids, a household, a husband, and a jewelry business to run.  I don’t know how I do all of it and stay sane.  Over the past few months, I’ve been hearing whispers of this new non-shampoo/conditioner from the founder of Bumble and Bumble.  Just for the fact that the guy who formulated Bumble and Bumble decided to release new hair products after selling B&B and becoming a yoga instructor piqued my interest.  There are only 4 products in this line:

New Wash – Shampoo/Conditioner replacement
Hair Balm – Moisturizer for hair + anti-frizz (curly girl’s best friend)
Dressed Up – Control and volume when you actually blow dry your hair
Undressed – Soft, touchable texture (hello beachy waves)

For the past 2 years, my hair has been so dry, it was constantly breaking off an inch from the ends.  An old wives’ tale says that when you’re carrying a girl, your hair is not as full and beautiful as you’d expect it to be.  After carrying two boys and having the best hair of my life, I was unpleasantly surprised at how mousy my hair had become.

Enter New Wash.

I was hesitant about spending $40 on a bottle of shampoo, but I also dislike hearing about all of the chemicals that are damaging the ecosystem because our sewer systems still can’t filter out a lot of basic household chemicals (I’m an engineer so I understand wastewater systems).  Aloe vera and essential oils as the main ingredients?  Yes please.  I bit the bullet and treated myself to a bottle.  The first few washes made me skeptical, because my hair was definitely adjusting to it but had a lot more body and texture than it normally would.  But there was a slimy film I just couldn’t get rid of.  I washed, double washed, rinsed, massaged, you name it.  And then I found reviews on Facebook saying hard water might be the root cause of the slimy feeling.  So, (to Jesse’s dismay about installing it) I bought a new shower head with a soft water filter.  Lo and behold, my hair is gorgeously light and fluffy like it’s never been.  Breakage be gone.  Hello natural texture I never knew I had.  I spend less time in the shower than I ever did prior to this.  I spent most of my shower time trying to rinse out my conditioner.  I’m such a believer, I’m going to change out the kid bathroom’s shower head.  Jesse.1 is almost a believer (she’s happy not using a pound of conditioner per wash), but she said she wants to use up her current stash of hair products we just bought before she switches over.  That should also give us some time to change out the shower head too.  Hubby on the other hand, let’s see what he does when he runs out of shampoo.
